The Cobra Story: Our Milton Keynes Club
We are a dynamic and dedicated group of passionate badminton players from Milton Keynes, united by a shared love for the exhilarating sport of badminton. Our journey struck its first shuttle in January 2025. Since then, we've consistently hit the courts at the National Badminton Centre (NBC) every Wednesday, fostering a friendly and social community built on sportsmanship, continuous skill enhancement, and pure enjoyment. We are primarily an intermediate-level club, focusing on enjoyable yet competitive games. Our regular sessions are a testament to our collective commitment to the game and to the strong bonds we've forged as a team.

- League Participation: Competing in the MKDBA (Milton Keynes & District Badminton Association) local leagues for the first time, we’ve started the season 2025-26 on a high note with great teamwork, strong performances, and plenty of motivation to keep it up! ⚡🏸
- Annual Club Events: Planning internal badminton tournaments and fantastic social events throughout the year.

Frequently Asked Questions
We are primarily a club for intermediate to advanced players. This means you should be comfortable with all basic strokes, have good court movement, and understand doubles tactics. We aim for competitive games, so this standard is important to ensure everyone enjoys the session.
Unfortunately, no. We have a limited number of court spaces available. All prospective players must first contact us to request a guest session using the "Join Us" section below. For the trial, you'll just join one of our regular sessions as a guest—it's a great way to get a feel for the group and see if it's a good fit. We do have a bit of a waiting list due to limited courts; however, with our guest rotation policy, if you're a good fit, we'll invite you to join as a guest whenever a spot opens up.
No membership fee! Court and shuttle costs are shared among players. We play at the National Badminton Centre (Bradwell Road, Milton Keynes MK8 9LA) on Wednesdays, 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM.
Please note: NBC charges a separate entrance fee per visit, with an annual pass option available for regular attendees.
Members enjoy priority access to all sessions and have the opportunity to represent the club in competitive leagues. This ensures you can play regularly and be part of our competitive teams if you wish.
League costs are separate from membership and are shared only among the participants in that specific league. The exact costs vary depending on the league and number of participants.
Our membership is currently full, but we regularly review availability based on member attendance and offer openings to people on our waiting list. In the meantime, we maintain the waiting list and invite guests to fill open slots according to our rotation policy.
Please bring your own badminton racket and wear appropriate non-marking court shoes. We provide feather shuttlecocks for all games. Also, don't forget a water bottle! 💧
Currently, Cobra Smash is not a coaching club and is not suitable for complete beginners. Our sessions are focused on social and competitive match play for experienced players. We recommend checking with the National Badminton Centre directly for any beginner coaching programs they may offer.
